I Wish I had a Gavel

Day 01 of the 30 Days of Truth →
             Something you hate about yourself.

I am completely and utterly unable to commit myself wholly to the task in front of me. A doctor could be telling me I have cancer and they caught it late leaving me 4 months left to live at most and I'd be thinking: Cancer, huh? Does the late diagnosis mean no radiation? At least I don't have to be bald, not sure I can pull that one off. You know who's bald? Montel Wiliams. Does he have cancer? Wait no I think it's MS. George was balding... Speaking of George Seinfeld was a good show, I wonder what they're all up to. Damn I'm hungry. Did I have breakfast this morning? Can't remember. I'm forgetting a lot of things lately, is that the cancer? Oh wait... I have cancer?! Why didn't anyone tell me?!

I also have what I have dubbed Starer's Disease. I can't help but stare at other human beings especially when something is not quite right with them... It's like I see them once and I can't help glancing back. Sometimes I don't even bother with glancing I just watch @_@ and hope they don't notice. Makes for awkward situations if I'm ever caught like this one and this one and others I haven't posted yet.

I think that's all for this post. What do you hate about yourself?

Came across this here and I thought it would be something fun to try. Not like I have anything else to do... although I guess I could finish studying for finals and all that jazz but who am I kidding, I'll get around to it eventually! I'm hot. I'm grumpy and I'm not in a studying mood!

Hopefully I actually finish this *thinks back to how NaBloPoMo went*

Happy Independence!

Posted by Michelle on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 0 Comments
It's Independence Day! It's Independence Day! It's Independence Day! It's Independence Day!
And what am I doing to celebrate?? Not a thing -_- Well I did make pone which my father singlehandedly ate one-thirds of!! My mother thought herself rather useful in the process but all she did was crack the eggs. She didn't even beat them for me and she left the egg shell on the counter... Some help she is. It turned out pretty great regardless and I did my own little mini-pone which they will never see!!!! It's mine all mine!

It's about time my Christmas tree was erected but it's so much work! Hopefully my sister helps or one of you lovely readers, Che? ;) Please? :L No? Sigh... Fine! If you don't help you'll be getting no presents from me! None! The decorations at work are up :D Ro did them and it looks fantastic, I feel so Chrismassy! :)

I really should get to studying though :( But I have something better :D 30 Days of Truth!

It's Windy and I have a lot of Papers

Posted by Michelle on Saturday, November 27, 2010 0 Comments
  • There are bats living in my ceiling. Bats are rather noisy creatures bustling around all the time... I thought when we were hit by the storm it would've killed them but they're tough little bastards
  • No one wants to get me a pet ostrich :(
  • I tried to change the channel on the television with my Blackberry :/ I'm not addicted! I just thought it was the remote I swear!
  • I turned my bedroom upside down looking for said Blackberry only to find it in my left hand 45minutes later
  • A Jehovah's Witness caught me on my lunch break and followed me around the mall telling me how she turned her life around from a life of drugs and sex. She also followed me back to work and waited outside the door until closing.
  • As I'm writing this post I found $20 in the shorts I'm wearing :D Happy Days!
  • I bought the cutest ring from a shop in Chattel Village (one of my favourite places to find accessories) it came in the cutest little jewelery pouch! Should post a pic of that :)
  • I cleaned under my bed for the first time in about 2 years... It wasn't pretty, friends, wasn't pretty at all.
  • Work is going well!!! Can't wait until the semester is over so I can work full time :)
  • I have failed at NaBloPoMo :( there's always next month I guess
My jewelery pouch :)

Hair Ye, Hair Ye

Posted by Michelle on Saturday, November 27, 2010 0 Comments
Today I asked a girl when she's planning on getting her hair done because I knew she was talking about going to the salon. Unfortunately for me... her... both of us she went to the salon the night before...

Me: So when are you going to get your hair done?
Her: What do you mean?
Me: Uh... weren't you going to the salon or something?
Her: Yeah... It is done
Me: Did you do it yourself or-
Her: I went to the salon
I knew in my heart of hearts that there was NO WAY  that I could recover from this at all! I'm pretty sure right there and then she wrote me off of her good list :(
In my head I'm thinking, "Should I tell her I like it or will she know I'm liking since I didn't even notice she got her hair done... I hope when I go to the salon people notice... I won't tell anyone when I'm going to get my hair done, I'll just see if anyone comments... I wonder what I should tell her... Should I say anything? Her lipstick is fading, better tell her to reapply... Oh wait, she probably won't appreciate that."

When I zoned out I think she was saying something but I can't be sure since I was zoned out and all... I think was something along the lines of if I was showing off because I don't have to do much with my hair... What? If she only knew the time and effort that goes into this thick curly mane -_- It's a force to be reckoned with!

I no longer ask people when last they got their hair done... It can't go well... Can't go well at all

No, I'm Not Dead... Yet!

One of you lovely readers sent me a text this morning asking if I was dead since I haven't posted in while...
I'M ALIVE! I'M ALIVE! For the most part anyway, hard to tell really. Everything has been so hectic, school, work, school, work, eat sleep! Sigh! The days are getting shorter but the day's work isn't! I'm still going strong! Sort of, Popping vitamins and Starburst to keep me alive! Regular posting will resume soon (hopefully)

Cheers!

Stalker Texas Ranger

Posted by Michelle on Monday, November 15, 2010 7 Comments
Ever had the feeling you were being watched? Ever thought that someone was following you? Did it make you feel weird? Do you know what could make this a lot worse???? When there's proof this person is following you.

There's four sets of people at my University: the ones you see all the time, the ones you see every once in a while, the ones you see once and never again and the ones you never see and the ones who can't count. Whenever I left a particular class at the top of campus and made my way to the bottom, I always got this weird feeling like someone was watching me. This went on for a while but I figured it was just me being self-conscious until: I saw him. This skinny little dude was watching me. I was sure of it. I never noticed it before, but since I spotted him one time, I was beginning to notice him everywhere! He's one of those people that you wouldn't notice unless you know him and I didn't want to know him. Whenever I left class. There he was. Whenever I went to the cafeteria. There he was. Whenever I went to the book store. There he was. And he was always staring at me!

The first time he approached me I just hustled myself away pretending not to hear him. The second time he caught me as I was coming out of the bookstore. Dammit! He asked me for number and well... There was no way I was giving him mine! Remember my friend T from the blackberry post? I gave him that number instead. The third time he came up to  me he said in his Vincentian accent that gave me trouble to make out, "You seh you gimme yuh numbuh but I call it after you gimma it and you din even flinch, I call back again latuhon and some boy ansuh. Ya boyfriend?" I told him I had to go to class and he just kind of followed me :s I ducked into a random classroom and fortunately for me he didn't follow. What wasn't fortunate is that there was a tutorial in that classroom and nine people turned around to see me peeping through the glass pane in the door to see if he had gone.

After that he just kind of gave up but whenever he's close I know it. Whenever I get that feeling and I look around, sure enough he's there.

  • I went to the supermarket in heels and shorts and no bra!! No trolley for this hottie, I used a basket!!
  • I recruited Che into doing the laundry in heels, feels good doesn't it ;)
  • I made the most perfect flatbread sandwich ever :( It brought tears to my eyes! I almost didn't want to eat it... Almost.
  • The hair of my sworn enemy had some serious damage and now my hair not only more gorgeous than hers, but longer too!!

Last Girl Standing

Posted by Michelle on Saturday, November 13, 2010 0 Comments
It's been a while, hasn't it? I haven't been doing very well with NaBloPoMo :( I'm back and I have an important update: My feet hurt. They hurt a lot :( Wanna know why?? :) Course you do ;) Bahaha. I started work yesterday :D And we stand all day. Well there's like 3 staff chairs around and as soon as one is free it's a mad rush to get to one. I don't even bother. There's no way I'm putting in all that effort only to get halfway and realise X is already sitting there. Work is pretty nice! And the incentives are killer! What's also killer are the customers that come in and have no idea what they want and give you the run around - only a different way. Did I say anything about the people? I love my colleagues, the ones I've met... Except this one girl but she talks to no one... what a sad existence that must be. You're at work from 8-5 on weekdays and 8-3 on weekends and you refuse to talk to anyone you work with? Oh well, her loss, we're better without her anyway ;) There's 3 supervisors and Y is the coolest :) He's so personable, he doesn't come across fake at all unlike Z -_- The new staff outweighs the old staff twice over! If anything ever happens, we'll win, I hope.

This is my first job by the way!!! I have never earned money in my entire life! Except for doing chores and I'm not sure if I should count that, been a while since I vacuumed. Approaching someone that walks in is the most terrifying thing ever, especially since I absolutely no experience! Walking up to them is like,

Oh my God, I hope there's nothing in my teeth. Suppose I trip, that would really suck... I hope my breath doesn't smell like mocha, I should get some gum. Dammit, can't have anything in my mouth on the sales floor! Why are they still walking, don't they know I'm coming to them?? Maybe they saw me and don't want me to come to them. Relax, Michelle, take a deep breath! Oh no, only 3 more steps, aaaannnnddd....

Then I realise it wasn't so bad and I really didn't have to freak out. I'll get better in time :) I'm only working three days a week Friday-Sunday. I can't wait until my exams are over so I can start to work full time :D I will have no life on weekends. There's no way I can do something at night and then get to work for 8AM! Ah well, at least I'm getting paid :) That's the important thing... Right??

Have You Met My Horn?

Posted by Michelle on Saturday, November 06, 2010 1 Comments
Today was shopping day with C!! :) I love our shopping days! When it was time to go I walked to my car and sat for a bit, busy bbm'ing a couple people. I get onto the road and there's a bus parked, not off to the side like they're supposed to, but in the middle of the road! It was rather narrow and there were cars coming from the opposite direction and this guy is behind me beeping his horn like there's no tomorrow! I beeped right back! Wasn't sure what else he could have possibly expected from me. When I overtook the bus I drove at 20 on purpose! For his rudeness I was gonna make him wait :) Not more than 10 minutes later I'm passing a gas station and this guy just speeds out, he didn't even look! The three cars close to me beeped their horn at him, so I beeped mine too! It was absolutely thrilling!! I'd never been in a car horn quartet before!

So now I'm on the highway, traffic's moving fairly well, but there's always the bob-and-weaver. You know the one... He'll pass cars at will, switching lanes 4-7 times for no reason other than getting in front of the other car. What makes this worse is that people like him overtake you and then drive slowly until they feel like switching lanes again. I was watching him in my rear-view mirror for a while and I was ready for him! When he passed the car behind me I was already picking up speed, I looked over at him, he looked over at me and looking through the side-view I could see he had his indicator on, but guess who he wasn't gonna get in front of!!!! Here were are, neck and neck, battling to be the first one to get to the round-a-bout, well not really, I wasn't going as fast as I could have but it was fun to let him think he could pass me :) He beeped his horn at me, I beeped mine back at him and then I put my foot on that gas pedal and drove off into the 2 o'clock sun. It makes me smile inside to know that he didn't get into the other lane! *win*

All these guys were driving some rather small cars! And challenging my Tuscon (yes I drive an SUV and pollute the environment) The guys with the smallest cars give me the most problems on the road, are they trying to overcompensate for something? I hope not 'cause it's not working out.

I LOVE RICE!

Posted by Michelle on Friday, November 05, 2010 4 Comments
Actually... I don't eat rice... But! Remember my post about my Blackberry getting waterlogged? You should probably read it to get the back story. He's all better now!!! I did just as T said and put my disassembled phone in a bowl of rice and left it overnight.

When I woke up this morning I was a jittery mess suffering from Blackberry withdrawal. I kept glancing at the bowl of rice for about 4 hours before I reassembled and turned it on. When that red light flashed and the Blackberry start up bar appeared on my screen I held my breath until it was fully loaded. Well... I held my breath until I had to gasp for air, if you've ever seen a Blackberry restart you'll know how long it takes :| The screen loaded! And then it went black and I got depressed, then I pressed the 'return' button and there I saw: T-Mobile! I thought it died again, but the backlight just timed out.

When my phone finally started up it was like the sneeze finally came! The sneeze face was gone and I was relieved :) A hearty round of applause for my Blackberry ladies and gentlemen!!! He's such a trooper!

Cereal Killer

Posted by Michelle on Friday, November 05, 2010 2 Comments
Do you like cereal? I do. I like it a lot, especially when it's crunchy. With every crunch of that cereal it sounds like there's a construction site in my head. I have to turn up the volume of whatever I'm listening to or just pause it all together and enjoy the crunchy goodness! Ever fake your way through a conversation? Was it someone that doesn't speak your language? The person who never talks above a whisper? Was it that guy that talks like an auctioneer spouting off hundreds of words per minute?

I was on campus killing time between classes when I remembered I had some of my favourite cereal in my bag. I'm minding my business crunching away, working my way through the final pages of my sudoku book when a girl sits down next to me. She's babbling away about something or the other and all I could think was,

"I wonder if she knows I'm not listening... Damn this is some good cereal, I wish I had a bigger ziplock... I wonder how they make cereal. I'd like to go to a cereal factory or whatever it's called. Cereal mill? Ah, whatever. Oh, God, she's still talking and I can't hear her but I don't want to stop eating what do I do? Remember 'Madagascar'? Just smile and wave, boys. Don't wave, you idiot, just nod and smile and stuff. Oh no, my cereal's almost gone... Wait, is she leaving? Say goodbye, don't be rude."

I had no idea what she was saying but I figured it wasn't anything important since she didn't really promt me for responses. Saturday afternoon I get a call from her...

Planner: Are you ready? I'm leaving home now.
Me: What?
Planner: Remember on Thursday you agreed to go shopping with me so I can get a dress for my brother's wedding...
Me: Uuhh... I did?
Planner: Yes... I remember because you had cereal and I asked you for some but you like didn't say anything
Me: OOOHH!!! Um... I have no idea what you were saying. I couldn't hear anything over my chewing the cereal, but I'll still come if you want. Just give me 30 minutes
Planner: You dissed me for cereal? Couldn't you stop eating?
Me: It was good cereal...
[silence]

In my defense it really was some good cereal! Not my fault she didn't check to see if I was listening. She's never asked me to go shopping again by the way... And as far as I know, she went shopping alone that day, for some reason she didn't want my company any more, hope she had fun.

NaBloPoMo Nov 2010

Posted by Michelle on Thursday, November 04, 2010 0 Comments
Guess what I just did! I just joined National Blog Posting Month :) and with this my great duty is to add a blog post every day for the month of November!!!

Why this will be difficult:
  1. I'm a procrastinator.
  2. I'm such a procrastinator that I took a 20 minute pause between 1. and 2. "to do it later".
  3. My memory isn't what it used to be and I may forget

Reasons why this will work:
  1. Because I want it to :)

It just occurred to me that I missed the first 2 days of November :( I'm a failure :(
Must try my hardest not to miss any days ><

My Lover Is Drowning

Posted by Michelle on Thursday, November 04, 2010 0 Comments
Today something happened that has never happened to me before: I dropped my phone in water >:( I never knew I had such good reflexes until my hand flew into the sink and took it out!! I blame my University. I was in the bathroom washing my hands and their horrible drainage system had the water all backed up, my poor phone didn't deserve it! I took it apart and dried it with a napkin then I attempted to dry it a little more with the hand dryer in the bathroom...

I turned it on and it toyed with me a little, my phone is such a tease. The red light came on, the Blackberry restart bar loaded, security software bar came up... and then... and then!!!!!!!!! My phone turned off. Talk about anti-climatic moments!!! It was absolutely horrendous, like when you want to sneeze and you know it's there, but for some reason it just won't come out, and you sit there with your sneeze face on for like 5 minutes and nothing comes! Then you look over at the person a few feet from you and you realise they've been watching your hideous sneeze face for th better part of 4 minutes... That's what it felt like, times 20!

I met up with my techie, friend T and he told me to put it in rice. In my head I'm saying to myself, "Rice? Really? I've overestimated his technological savvy!" When I get home I Google "blackberry water repair" and there it is: disassemble blackberry and put in a bowl of rice for 24-48 hours. In Every. Single. Post. I'm not congratulating T yet however! We'll see how this goes for my phone :(

Did I mention I only bought it this summer? August 6th if I remember correctly... Sigh.

Painted Faces

Posted by Michelle on Wednesday, November 03, 2010 0 Comments
Every day I have class I wake up less than chipper, brush my teeth, check Twitter, have breakfast, brush my teeth again, check Twitter, have a shower, air dry, check Twitter, get dressed then lounge around on the computer (while checking Twitter) until the dreaded time I have to leave. When I reach campus I can't help but look at how everyone (mainly girls) put themselves together on mornings. Sizing up the competition? Not quite, it's a girl thing I guess, we watch each other, we pick apart every little thing.

My dress code for college:
Whatever shirt & skirt/shorts/jeans are clean - if you have to smell it twice, it's been worn and put it in the hamper!
Chuck Taylor's or slippers depending on the weather - I hate wet toes, no slippers on a rainy day for this girl!
Hair in a ponytail - I can't be bothered to fuss around with the long, thick, curly mass on my head just to go to class
Makeup - Very limited, it's just school after all: tinted moisturiser, eyeliner and if I'm feeling particularly sexy some lipgloss ;)

When I look around at the girls on campus I cannot fathom why they thought it was some kind of party, New Year's celebrations already? Why would you leave home with a full smoky eye in dark greys and blacks? On Thursday I was walking to class and a saw a girl with an entire face of makeup on! Foundation, powder, blush, eyeshadow, mascara, eyeliner, it was all there, but at least she had a nude lip; but this is her face everyday. While it was beautifully applied, was it really necessary? I for one was very confused, I wonder what these girls do with their faces when they actually have an event to attend? I'm gonna go with the same old thing. I'm not attacking this girl, there's many of them at my university I just want to know why.

Are we so insecure with our given faces that we cover it up to look 'attractive' when all we really achieve is looking like 'Broadway Goes College'. Is there that much of a desire to hide all imperfections that we weigh down our faces with tons of unnecessary makeup? At the end of it all people will do what they want and whatever they're comfortable doing. In the same way I'll never understand their Flashdance-like faces, maybe they'll never understand why all I put on my face for school is tinted moisturiser, eyeliner and lipgloss.
